*All medical waste is handled and transported by licensed medical waste companies, with tracking from source to disposal. We do not EVER place medical waste outside the facility prior to transport, where a "dumpster diver" may be tempted to obtain any sharps, or contaminated items.
*We collect and recycle our patients' empty plastic containers of supplements and prescription medications that we have ordered or dispensed. No other medical practice in the region does this that we are aware of!
*All toner and ink cartridges used in the facility are recycled.
*All magazines, professional journals, and advertising materials that arrive in the office are recycled after use. Patients are invited to adopt our office magazines after use! Please inquire--but please recycle!
*Office copy paper is printed on both sides whenever feasible. A professional shredder company is hired to shred documents and recycle the paper.
*All packaging purchased for the office and Gift Store is made of recycled materials (even the plastic bags!) and is biodegradable.
*Office Heat and Air Units use programmable thermostats to insure energy conservation when the office is closed for the day.
*Water conserving practices are employed both inside the facility and in landscaping.
*Biodegradable and environmentally friendly cleaning products are used for office cleaning. Patients with chemical sensitivity will find air cleaners in use throughout the office for their comfort.
*Pesticides are not used inside or outside the office. Garden pests are controlled with organic and natural means. We would rather live with a small spider or two in our flower beds than poison our Mother Earth.
***We are always looking for better ways to be careful stewards of the Earth. We invite our patients to join us in our efforts.
PLEASE don NOT flush your unused and expired medications down your toilet, or into your septic system! Contamination of ground water, rivers and streams with pharmaceutical medications is a mounting problem. We will help educate you on safe disposal methods, and in some cases can take back your medications and dispose for you.
